The Five Sisters Zoo Answers All Your Zoological Prayers.

Scotland is finally starting to welcome Spring and what better way to celebrate than a trip to the Five Sisters Zoo in West Calder. Thought Edinburgh Zoo and Blair Drummond were your only options? Think again. Let us lay down the Five Sisters facts…

Five Sisters Zoo was established in 2005 and is the most-visited wildlife attraction centre in West Lothian.  They are located about half a mile of the A71, outside of Polbeth, West Calder and only 10 minute drive from the centre of Livingston.

The Zoo is privately owned and run by Brian and Shirley Curran with the help of full-time keepers and a large team of dedicated volunteers.  As an entirely not-for-profit organisation, any money is injected back into the Zoo to help with the animals upkeep, veterinary bills and maintenance of the enclosures.

The zoo acts as a sanctuary for over 180 different species of mammal, birds and reptiles. With daily keeper talks, feeding and handling sessions plus a large outdoor play & picnic area, the Five Sisters Zoo provides a jam-packed adventure where you can get up close to rescued circus bears and lions, wolves, meerkats, crocodiles, owls, lemurs and many more.

The Zoo has recently reopened its doors after closure due to the snow with the launch of the brand-new Leaping Lemurs soft play facility located within the zoo grounds. You can enjoy lunch in the new café situated within the soft play building, open to both the zoo and soft play visitors.

Have a birthday party to organise, got a bunch of five-year-old’s to entertain or fancy yourself as the next Michaela Strachan? The Five Sisters Zoo will answer all your zoological prayers.
